Giulio Caccini was a sixteenth-century composer, based in Florence, and a gifted singer (1545-1616). Although this version of Ave Maria is attributed to Caccini, there is debate as to whether or not he was the actual composer of the piece. Latvian soprano Inese Galante performed the piece in the 1990s and made it a popular favorite.
