Beulah Land – John Robson Sweney

Beulah Land is an old, civil war era hymn written by John Robson Sweney. The tune gives a nod towards the sound of soldiers marching forward, and has a simple, uncomplex quality.  In this arrangement for string quartet, the first violin takes the melody in the first verse, with the second violin and viola moving together with the melodic line, providing harmonic richness.  For the second verse, the second violin and viola take the melody, with the first violin providing harmony and contrast.  Cover, score, set of parts – 13 pages.
