The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face is a 1957 folk song written by Ewan MacColl. It has been recorded by various folk singers and became a major international hit for Roberta Flack, winning Grammy Awards for Record of the Year and Song of the Year. It has also been used in many movies and television programs. This arrangement for string quartet follow a more sensuous style, as sung by Roberta Flack, with lots of movement in each of the parts. The second and first violins alternate with the melody.
